Pushkin Industries is an audio production company dedicated to creating premium content in a collaborative environment. Pushkin is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the podcasting business, and, like our namesake Alexander Pushkin, endlessly innovating.
About The Role
Reporting to the CEO, this position’s responsibilities will range from overseeing budgeting and financial reporting to managing contract negotiations and execution for streaming platforms and new audio outlets to overseeing the development of a CRM tool to help Pushkin hosts better connect with their audiences. Candidates should flourish in an early-stage startup environment and be creative, entrepreneurial, and results driven.
Responsibilities include:
Business Development
Pursue streaming partnership deals and opportunities around show syndication and licensing
Manage key partner relationships with Apple, Spotify, Luminary, Cadence 13, and others
Work with Pushkin leadership and slate of author-hosts to develop a business model for enhanced audiobook production
Oversee development of a CRM platform for podcasters to enhance audience connection
Develop live events and touring business for hosts/shows
Drive international expansion and licensing
Manage development and exploitation of derivative rights
Strategy
Analyze and quantify growth strategy and new business development opportunities, including developing a paid content model for Pushkin podcasts
Perform analysis to evaluate Pushkin’s existing revenue mix and develop strategic recommendations for future monetization efforts
Build relationships across the evolving podcast industry to develop consensus around industry models and standards
Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, growth opportunities and internal performance
Lead ad-hoc strategic analysis and prepare communication and research for senior management and Advisory Board
Finance & Reporting
Develop and maintain the Pushkin financial model and company-wide and show-level budgets in conjunction with CEO and senior management
Manage show-by-show P&Ls and host/partner reporting and payments
Develop, analyze, and present accurate and insightful quarterly and annual financial reports to management and investors
Build upon Pushkin’s existing contract management system to ensure billing and collection schedule is adhered to and to maximize cash flow for operational requirements
Manage accounting operations with guidance from company’s external bookkeeper; oversee invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee onboarding, tax and legal filings
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
BA required, MBA and/or JD a plus
Minimum 4 years of financial, consulting, operations, and/or business development experience
Strong analytical skills and financial modeling capabilities
Experience or interest in the media, digital, and/or tech industries
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Great multitasking capacities, with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced and evolving environment
This is a FT staff position, based in Manhattan. Compensation will comprise a competitive base salary, full benefits, and stock options.
