The nitty gritty
Group Nine is home to the leading digital-first brands in the world (Thrillist, Seeker, NowThis, The Dodo), and we are seeking a curious, motivated, manager to join our rapidly-growing Commerce business. The Commerce department at Group Nine oversees all aspects of our experiential, licensing & merchandising, affiliate content, and consumer products businesses. Our task is to deliver the best products and experiences to our audience. The Manager will report into the Commerce leadership team and contribute valuable insight and work product across all core Commerce businesses, with an emphasis on our growing consumer products and brand licensing businesses.
Responsibilities
Assist in the organization and execution of Commerce projects with research, modeling, planning, and execution of assigned tasks
Prepare internal and external correspondence and presentations (in PowerPoint and Keynote), particularly with external product partners and senior internal stakeholders
Coordinate multiple assignments and projects, assisting with operational and strategic responsibilities of the department as needed
Actively monitor product development process, including prototyping, manufacturing, and fulfillment
Coordinate communication and resources across all Group Nine departments in order to support execution of large, multi-department projects
Support the ideation, planning, and ongoing execution of new consumer brands and projects
Identify, model, and pursue untapped areas of opportunity, pitching novel concepts and strategy to team leadership
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from top-tier university
2+ years in bulge bracket banking, consulting, or equivalent experience in corporate or product development
Passion for disruptive consumer products and brands
Experience working and thriving in a fast-paced environment while executing multiple projects and deadlines
Exceptional assessment and organizational skills; attention to detail and excellent follow-through
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Keynote experience necessary
Proficient at new business modeling and fluency with financial projections
Team player with flexibility to accommodate different personalities and work styles as well as confidence to manage interactions and expectations at all levels of the organization
An interest in digital media, and the evolving intersection between content and commerce; novel ideas on how popular brands can best engage with their audiences
