The nitty gritty
The Chief of Staff will work with and report directly to The Wing’s co-founders (CEO + COO) to ensure streamlined activities within the organization, and to enable them to be more effective and productive leaders. This person will serve as a proxy and information funnel, filter, and facilitator both for the founders as well as across the company. Bringing exceptional organization and detail-orientation skills to the table, the CoS will be heavily internally facing and interact regularly with all members of senior staff. S/he will be a master of execution and project management, especially pertaining to major initiatives stretching across multiple departments. This is a role for a highly motivated, organized, and tactical individual who can project manage effectively across a wide variety of departments, while operating in an incredibly fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment. Clear strengths in execution and prioritization are paramount, as is the ability to build trust and demonstrate high EQ in dealing with employees from every department and level of the organization. All candidates must be currently based in New York City, eligible for work in the United States, have at least 5 years professional work experience, and be able to work on a full-time basis starting immediately. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Centralized project management across all departments; own major departmental activations (e.g. policy announcements, new openings, new initiatives, etc.)
Identify cross-functional opportunities that don’t have a clear ‘home’ within the organization and assume ownership to project manage and execute, with direct approval from senior staff and Founders
Create internal launch and communication plan
Own the master calendar
Hold team accountable; ensure roll outs are organized and carried out seamlessly, and that deadlines are met
Prepare briefings for all meetings; establish clear structures and purpose-driven agendas
Own all meeting follow up communication + action items
Be a ‘knowledge conduit’ within the organization, to allow information to move fluidly and appropriately across the organization
Act as internal voice and “clearing house” for the founders, enabling scale
Demonstrate clear instincts for prioritization in order to ensure execution, as well as in determining what situations should be elevated to the Founders, and what can be addressed in their stead
Attend critical meetings with Founders, and attend meetings on behalf of Founders where appropriate, reporting back key information and synthesized requests
Work closely with Founders’ Executive Assistant/s to manage prioritization of schedules and meetings
Coordinate internal planning processes and presentations (e.g. quarterly planning, All Hands, senior staff meetings, investor meetings, etc.)
Qualifications:
Currently based in NYC
Maniacal about detail and organization
Highly execution oriented, with good strategic instincts
Scrappy + resourceful; a self-starter
Flexible, agile, ability to deal with ambiguity
Multifaceted and excels in managing multiple projects across range of areas, with competing and tight deadlines
Direct and proactive communication - up, down, across
Exceptionally high EQ
5-8+ years of experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
Bachelor’s degree
