With the tap of a button, we enable anyone in the world to create compelling, high quality audio and instantly be heard anywhere (on our platform, on the web, in podcast players, on smart speakers, in cars, and much more coming soon). As our first full-time community/engagement manager, you’ll be focused on curating an amazing listening experience in Anchor, with the goal of helping Anchor users become active creators (a fundamental and critical piece of our vision to democratize audio). You’ll do this with a variety of tactics, ranging from content curation and contests to personalized prompts and re-engagement mechanics. At Anchor, you’ll get to work alongside a cross-functional team of engineering, product, and marketing team members. This is a unique opportunity to help build out the network for a consumer-facing and product-driven company that’s backed by some of the best investors in Silicon Valley and NY. This is a full-time role based in New York City.
Responsibilities
Curate an amazing listening experience in the Anchor app:
Surface the best content so users always have fresh recommendations
Work with the Anchor engineering team to develop algorithms to automatically suggest personalized content based on each listener’s preferences
Stay intimately familiar with all the content available in Anchor, including the new shows created every day (i.e., a lot of your job will be listening to Anchor audio)
Ideate and execute creative ideas intended to convert passive listeners into active creators, ranging from small/individual (e.g., prompts, push notifications, tweets) to large/general (re-engagement emails, contests, marketing campaigns)
Build, maintain, and execute against a detailed content calendar that drives topical and culturally relevant content
Do whatever it takes to hit aggressive goals, with a combination of automated and manual tactics
Requirements
2+ years experience in a community, customer engagement, content, or marketing role
Friendly, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and approachable
Comfortable with and capable of being a tastemaker, helping to educate others about great undiscovered stuff they might enjoy
Bursting with creative ideas, and not afraid to give them all a try
Proven ability to efficiently execute and quickly adapt without a lot of direct supervision
Obsessed with podcasts (and able to see the potential of smaller, less polished ones)
Passionate about educating or helping people, especially creatively
Innate understanding of what makes good content, whether it’s within your specific interests or outside your wheelhouse
Active and immersed in the world of social media
Exceptional written and verbal communication
Bonus points if you have worked with audio in the past, whether professionally or as a personal project (podcasting, music discovery/recommendations, etc)
