Manager, Home Acquisitions
Why this is a great job
You get to deploy capital, run analytics, and recruit/train/manage a team - sounds like a great role for a generalist. Divvy is a rocket ship in the making and one that does something good for people, too - buying a home these days is difficult.
The nitty gritty
Who you’d be working with: Dan Strickland (he runs the home acquisitions team)
Location: SF
What is Divvy?
The quick story on Divvy: we saw credit access tightening as home prices departed from wage growth and realized someone needed to build a mechanism to fill the void left behind by traditional mortgage. We buy homes on our customers' behalf and then rent it back to them -- part of their monthly payment goes towards building equity in the home. After a few years, the customer can then roll that equity into a traditional mortgage -- buying us out completely and living on in their forever home.
We’re looking for passionate, resourceful people who care deeply about improving the economic prospects of American families, who also want to build a durable, full-stack business they can be proud of.
About the position
We’re hiring a Manager, Home Acquisitions to lead our home buying efforts.
Through a combination of process, tooling, salesmanship, and analytics – you will own and manage the day-to-day flow of our home buying process. It’s your job to: responsibly deploy capital, uphold team SLAs, and grow capacity with demand – all in the service of getting our customers into their future homes.
This will include recruiting, training, and mentoring our Sales team and Agent partners – i.e. performance tracking, KPI-setting, compensation, and ROI analysis. We expect you to become an expert on our tool stack and sales process including developing a deep understanding of the home-buying process and the associated consumer psychology.
On any given day, you might: analyze team performance data, speak with a half-dozen agents to get a pulse on market heat, extend $1M+ of offers to buy homes, or cobble together the latest SaaS tool combination to automate a recurring demand.
Overall, this job is for an organized, quantitative, and process-oriented individual – you care deeply about your work and would be restless if you couldn’t grow your responsibilities over time.
You are elated about this opportunity because you get to...
Work on complex problems and create order out of chaos – multi-party dependencies, real world assets
Constantly tweak and improve existing process and procedures – you love to tinker and experiment
Drive meaningful change into our customers’ financial futures every day – raise the economic floor
Understand the dynamics, incentives, and opportunities in US residential real estate
Write part of the Divvy story and contribute to this rapidly growing company
We’re thrilled to welcome you into our growing circle because...
You care about home-ownership and are eager to run the front-line team in charge of responsibly and efficiently purchasing hundreds of homes per month
You are impatient, to roll up your sleeves and get stuff done, and be the foremost voice of the customer
You are a self-motivated, rapid learner, excited about developing your analytical and problem-solving skills
You are a strong business thinker, able to use first principles to solve challenging problems at their root level
You are an owner, always looking for opportunities to learn and better your work product
