Business Operations Associate
Why this is a great job
Some may call me biased, since this is my company, but I prefer to think of myself as having the best inside information on the opportunity! This is a great role for a consultant or startup operator who wants a cross-functional role, lots of exposure to M&A, lots of responsibility, and the opportunity to work directly with the senior leadership team at a startup. We’re in stealth right now, but we’re backed by top tier investors and growing very quickly.
The nitty gritty
Company website: www.withsylva.com
Location: Remote
Who you’d be working for: Tom Guthrie, Co-Founder & CEO
Sylva is on a mission to create a sense of belonging online. We operate as a fully-remote, highly-decentralized organization. We want to create an environment where all of our teammates can do the best work of their lives and share in the upside of the company that we’re building together. We are backed by some of the top venture firms in the world and are scaling quickly.
We’re looking for a driven business operations professional who is relentlessly organized and a great communicator to be our first dedicated hire for integrations and playbooking. This person will get lots of exposure throughout the entire organization, will work with the CEO and COO, and will be given as much responsibility as they can handle. This is a great role for an ex-banker, consultant, or operator who wants to work across M&A, product, growth, and operations and have a big impact at a well-funded, early stage company.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing integrations of acquisitions (70%)
Project manage acquisitions from close through onboarding and growth
Work hand-in-hand with our M&A team to understand the acquisitions in their pipeline and prepare for their onboarding
Be the point person on each acquisition to help the acquired company implement our playbooks, technology, and other internal resources
Playbooking (25%)
Work with our vertical leaders to extract and “playbook” best practices related to engagement, growth, product, and more
Perform competitive analysis to understand best practices around the ecosystem and turn those into playbooks to test and scale internally
Work cross-functionally to implement and measure success of the playbooks you develop
Other special projects (5%)
Work with the CEO and COO on ad hoc projects and analyses
Your skills and experience
2-4 years of experience in consulting, finance, M&A integration, or startup operations roles
You’re competitive, relentlessly organized, and detail oriented
You’re a great written and verbal communicator
You excel at project management in a remote-first environment
Your future
You’ll be responsible for building the foundations of our integrations and business operations functions, creating efficient processes and proactively identifying areas of opportunity
You may take on a larger role in internal business operations, double down on integrations, or try your hand at M&A
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive salary and equity
An environment that encourages autonomy
Health, dental, and vision benefits
Unlimited PTO (with mandatory 2 weeks per year)
Generous wellness and workplace stipends
Remote first culture
