The result is an exciting new approach to credit that has the potential to radically expand credit access and improve the lives of millions of consumers, shaking up a trillion dollar industry in the process.

The Finance team
Petal is a fast-growing financial technology company, offering complex financial products to both our customers and our investors. Ensuring that we have reliable access to capital is paramount. We are looking for a Strategic Finance Associate to help us to model and communicate our business to investors across the capital stack, ranging from venture capital raises to asset-backed lending activity. Quantitative and qualitative skills are key to success in this role, in which both financial modeling and strategic communication skills will be used constantly. If you like finance, this is about as fun as it gets, with a wide range of authority, significant responsibility and huge impact on our business and our customers.
Key responsibilities:
Create and maintain complex financial models (three-statement and otherwise)
Forecast P-L and balance sheet outcomes for a capital business
Anticipate and construct compelling sensitivities that investors and management care about
Escalate major conclusions from modeling activity for strategic planning purposes
Understand important changes in Petal’s cash position and communicate those to the team
Draft compelling marketing materials (decks and otherwise) for capital raising activities
Craft succinct, persuasive narratives about the company’s strategic direction and potential
Assist with assessment, analysis and execution of acquisition ideas and proposals
Identify, prioritize and solve ongoing business requirements
Participate in the creation of materials for board of directors meetings and updates
Collaborate in strategic planning with capital markets, marketing and other functions
Characteristics of a successful candidate
Investment banking experience required; PE experience and/or structured finance preferred
Exposure to complex balance sheet modeling and forecasting
Exceptional financial modeling skills, with an ability to work quickly with little oversight
Significant attention to detail, both in a quantitative and qualitative sense
Strong self-management, drive, and organization
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment is essential
Insatiable curiosity to learn
