Hydrant is seeking a creative storyteller to launch and grow our communications team as Senior Communications Lead. This role will handle all organic brand communication, and will also work with the growth marketing to ensure our paid acquisition efforts are on brand and fit within our overall comms strategy. The ideal candidate enjoys writing, enjoys storytelling, and even more so enjoys coming up with unique ideas to create newsworthy narratives about the brand, team and customers. Writing is a big part of the role, but so is building relationships with press, influencers and customers.
Responsibilities
A love for telling stories in written, verbal and visual form.
Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to find communications opportunities (stories to tell) and great channels for distributing them. Define and execute appropriate strategies to support these.
Build processes internally so that the team is always focused on actively telling stories through all channels available to us. With these processes, the goal is to get consistent press coverage for the brand.
Manage Hydrant’s organic marketing channels, including social media and email, ensuring maximum press exposure is achieved through events, activations, and brand partnerships
Build and maintain relationships with media, digital influencers, publicists and VIPs on behalf of the brand
Oversee all editorial, influencer and celebrity sampling
Handle all incoming press requests
Track, and keep detailed reporting on press coverage, and impact on key metrics
Craft research and studies to create opportunities for media exposure, and look at our own customer base for press worthy narratives
Develop a strategy and process for identifying and managing speaking opportunities for executives and award recognition opportunities for the company
Train company spokespeople to deliver consistent and compelling messages
Keep current on relevant industry, economic, and governmental issues that could impact our business, position or messaging
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
4+ years of experience in editorial / PR background
Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills
Positive attitude; Passion for storytelling and being part of a growing brand
Strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines
Self-motivated, excited to work in a fast-paced and energetic environment
Full of fresh ideas; skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing and working on simultaneous projects
Experience in planning, writing, editing, and production of newsletters, press releases, annual reports, marketing literature, and other print publications and directories
